Be Agile. Use Scrum… and common sense :)

July 21, 2016

Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean etc. have become buzzwords not only for those working in software development teams but also for much… softer roles and specialization.[more…]

And as we already know from the previous articles knowing something and using it with a common sense is not the same. One may have participated in a training on Agile or even have been certified, however, as practice shows it won’t always guarantee that this person would become a skillful user of the framework.

Now, in the best spirit of a retrospective, we can say that this 8-hour training (lasting two days) satisfied all needs of project managers who were eager to understand Agile principles of project management. It navigated “lost” team leads and tech leads who had been trying to find their place in a scrum team. And this event has also proved that anyone (like our HR/ERM coordinators) may become an Agile leader and application agent on flexible interactive approaches.

be Agile use Scrum

be Agile use Scrum
be Agile use Scrum

Even those SMART conservatives who like alchemists are constantly trying to figure out how to work effectively and efficiently WILL find all the necessary ingredients in any of an Agile frameworks.

Dig deep and do your best to understand THE principles. And then magic practice, fail fast, practice again and USE your common sense. Life will never be the same again! 🙂

Why working at Symphony Solutions is almost the Bahamas?

July 4, 2016

If you take into account the fact that you work around 40 hours per week and probably die at the age of 70, the time you spend at work is over 10 years in total. Does not seem so much, huh? Well, it’s not, but try to subtract 25 years of sleeping, 2 years watching commercials, 17 years trying to lose your weight or 4,3 years driving your car, 9 years of watching movies and TV, 2,5 years cooking and 3,6 years eating and there is left not that much time! So ten years of work, 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day and, therefore, the third part of your everyday living is quite a significant part of your lifetime, isn’t it?

why working at Symphony is almost the Bahamas[more…]

Many people say that work is about how much you’re paid. It’s really true that money is important. But wouldn’t it be cool to get up in the morning without hating it and have a passion for going to work even after doing this for so many years? Okay, you still receive your money, but what about an additional pleasure for your soul, mind and body from the environment you stay in 8 hours per day? Sounds too perfect? Don’t worry! At Symphony Solutions we know how to make perfection happen.

No, we don’t work on the Bahamas. There’s nobody to wave palm leaves in front of you (oh, why?!), but we’ve got all of those tiny things that create for us comfort, harmony and motivation spirit. Ultimately, we stay in the office the same amount of time as at home. Consequently, can’t feeling equally good at both places be called perfection?

Researches say that the more the person is happy at work, the higher their productivity is. Well, not all of our employees are happy when they lose playing Mortal Combat or ping-pong, but after a cup of tasty coffee, healthy lunch or just listening to the birds in the park and watching the cow on the ceiling, they feel much better 🙂
Those who are especially sensitive, can have their nails done, enjoy a relaxing massage, get some cosmo power at yoga classes or just merge with nature in the Magic Wood.

Bored with the same streets and grey walls? Just go to work! Come to the green zone of our office designed as a smaller copy of Dutch village Zaanse Schans and make yourself feel in Holland! We’ve got 9 different meeting rooms with a unique idea each, from the bicycles to the Red Light District, and depending on a current mood, you decide which one you want to work in.

Symphony Design Studio Social Workshop

June 30, 2016

Two weeks ago the team of our Design Studio had a social workshop in the Carpathian mountains (yes, we are passionate to work even there!). Four groups tried to find a solution for homeless animals and finally, it’s time to let the world know the names of winners!

“Feel it for yourself” is the project that involves special stands located in the city where people can watch a social video. The idea of the video is to show what happens when due to some circumstances you decide not to keep your pet anymore.

In the first part of the video we have an example of bad pet owners who leave their cat or dog on the street where it needs to survive. The second part gives us a chance to find alternatives and tells about the organizations that may take a good care of your pet and help to find it another home.

Symphony Design Studio workshop

The special thing about the project is a possibility to watch the videos in 360 virtual reality mode and get at least a little chance to feel and understand the pain of being abandoned and left lonely on the streets where the sun doesn’t shine every day.

“Feel it for yourself” has been created as an example. The project aims to change people’s attitude towards their pets and, as a result, to decrease the number of homeless animals by looking at the problem from a different angle.

Ihor Kornatovskyi and Andriy Pestov did their best and deserved to be called the champions 🙂
